As we all know, Ron Artest signed with the Lakers this past week to replace Trevor Ariza. Despite what you may want to think Ariza is capable of, this is definitely an upgrade, especially if they can keep Lamar Odom as well.

But that's not where Ron Artest's story gets interesting at all. That's not even close.

And don't worry, we'll get to the significance of the signing and other signings when they become official.

Quick Programming Note: None of this stuff is SFW.

First, here is the video (thanks, Henry) of the moments leading up to Ron-Ron signing with the Lakers. It's a conversation on Artest's video blog between the TruWarier himself and his agent, David Bauman. My favorite part is definitely the guy that crashes the party.

I mean, the fact that the party-crasher interrupts so loudly and yet, Bauman continues to talk and Ron pretends to have heard every word he said is just hilarious to me.

UPDATE: Episode 2 of this affair

Then there was this ... "interesting" ... tribute to the deceased Michael Jackson by Ron Artest (thanks, Ethan!).

Two quick things:
1) My favorite lines from the song might be:

"Ya, remember the time/Doin' Thriller you was grindin', grindin'/Beat It had me open, I was wildin', wildin'/Red Jacket, pimp, leather glove/You used to show me love/I know you didn't know me but you showed me love."

2) And here was a curious moment as well. "MJ, you in my prayers/I know you're heaven and I hope you see you next year."

Does Ron Artest plan on making this his last year on Earth? Is MJ coming back in Obi-Wan Kenobi form?

And finally, Ron Artest has allegedly chosen to wear #37 for the Lakers in tribute to Michael Jackson. Apparently, MJ had 37 #1 hit singles or 37 rides at Neverland Ranch or 37 moments in life in which he was embarrassed by LaToya Jackson. Either way, Ron is going to be Dennis Rodman's inverse in Lakers uniform number folklore.

By the way, IT'S BEEN ONE WEEK WITH ARTEST ON THE LAKERS!

Just one week! Imagine what he's going to entertain us with when the season actually starts...
