I've been laying in bed for an hour, waiting for Broken Arrowto bore me enough to send me into a dreamland of dinners with famous people and school days in my underwear.
But it never happened. Instead, I've been thinking about this play over and over. It was the dumbest play I've ever seen on a basketball court and I watch a lot of basketball. I mean I watch A LOT of basketball. In the past two-plus years, I've watched roughly 90% of the NBA games that were played in the regular and post season. Before that I was watching a minimum of three to four games per night.
However, I've never seen a play like this in which someone could be so inept and unfocused.
I give you Earl Smith III.
Are you freaking kidding me? He just inbounded a ball that never went in the basket. Most players would rebound the ball and head towards the other hoop but not Earl Smith III. He decided that the ball needed to be inbounded. He's been in the league for six years. This wasn't a rookie mistake. It wasn't a misunderstanding. It was flat-out stupid.
People tried to justify it for Earl. They said it was a funny angle. They said they can understand why he would think it went in. Here's my issue with that assessment:
IT WAS A FREAKING AIRBALL!!!!!
Lamar Odom, you should thank Earl "J.R." Smith III. You're officially off the hook.
